Greetings! I am Jonathan Kirk (Toucan at camp), and I had the opportunity to work as a day camp counselor, lifeguard, and host for Koinonia over this past summer. In more ways than I can say, my time with camp this summer was a pure and wonderful blessing!
Right from the start, I felt included in the community. Koinonia hit the ground running, and I was right alongside for the ride. Even with my familiarity with the camp, every expectation I had for the summer was turned on its head in the best way possible. I was involved in ministries I could have never seen myself doing- counseling littles, driving a golf cart, and serving hot cookies as fast as possible were all parts of the job I could not have seen coming, but I would have no other way. Over the summer I made meaningful connections with my coworkers, impacted campers, and learned what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ!
I am looking forward to going through the application process soon to be a part of the next incredible summer. God is alive and working in Koinonia, and I hope to work there once more and participate in the glorious ministry of Jesus Christ! :)
